Icebreaker’s origin
Icebreaker’s origin story begins way back in the 1980s, when our founder, Kate Robertson, wrote an impassioned letter to the editor that led to her high school taking rat dissections off their biology curriculum. Buoyed by the power of words, Kate set her sights on a career in journalism.
After working for media outlets including ABC Radio and The Age Newspaper, and in Corporate Communications for organisations such as Austin Health, Kate launched her own comms agency back in 2005.
Since then, Icebreaker Communications has evolved to embrace emerging technology to better meet our clients’ needs and increase accessibility for service users, particularly those from non-English speaking backgrounds, or who are hearing impaired.
Icebreaker Communications has come a long way since that first heart-felt letter but whether it’s through a gripping piece of content, an engaging email, or a helpful AI Agent, the heart of Icebreaker Communications remains the same: a love for telling a cracking and thought-provoking yarn that has an impact for good.
